I remember seeing some maratracs in some of the cars myself. I KNOW theres some boxes of them down at the radio shops. Most of the handhelds were MT-1000's I think.

I agree with the grievance idea. I'm sure OCFD will follow suit! They're having much the same experiences.

Do I understand this right: Since the m/a com stuff has been put into use, OCFD/OCPD hates it due to functionality issues, correct? That, and it can't be scanned, so we hate it too. (That last part I *DO* understand, blah!)

Wow....ya, if they went back to ol 'M' (as it's being said) I guess it would be better for everyone. ::grin::

Couldn't the city have used federal grant money to fund the new system if it was P25 instead of ProVoice?

By the way, Santa Fe was having some communication trouble Thursday or Friday night. The dispatcher thought that "not all of the towers were working." Only some officers could hear dispatch.

At the time the City spec'd & bid out the system, the federal grants were not available...at least not the same federal grants you're taking about, which are tied to the P25 requirement.

The last time I had eyeballs inside an OCPD patrol car, it was an Orion but it is possible some Maratracs were required for replacements as the units aged.

Are you sure it was an Orion, or did it just look like an Orion? I'd give $100 to the first person who can look at only the control head and differentiate correctly between an Orion and an M7100 99 times out of 100.

Well, I couldn't verify it visually, but they are M7100's...

Orions are a pain to get ProVoice installed. M7100 have more memory and better DSP, etc...(and compliment the P7100 portables they have).
