• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Is the procedure to read/write a dash mount m7300 different than a remote mount one? Can’t get a dash mount one to work.

Thanks in advance

Are you using a serial cable plugged into the 9-pin plug on the back of the radio? Should be the same regardless of configuration.

Nothing will work. Radio powers up fine, can read/write other radios but these 2 won’t work. Yes using 9 pin serial.

What's the firmware version in the radio? What version of RPM are you using? I've randomly had a few 7300's that my PC wouldn't read/write using the onboard serial port, yet they would program just fine using a USB/Serial adapter o_O

14.3.5 is a OpenSky firmware version. I suspect the two radios that you can't read are in powering up in OpenSky mode. Do radios ask for a login when you start them up? Get them out of that mode and re-try reading with RPM, hopefully the previous owner programed in the mode option in the menu? Otherwise there is a keystroke sequence that will get them out, but I can't think of it off the top of my head. Look for it in Harris quick guides related to M7300's I think that's where I found it previously. Once you get the radio back into "normal" operating mode it should program as expected. Once there, it stay in the normal operation (even after powering down/re-starting), take the mode option out (or don't put it in) of the programmable menus and you shouldn't have any problems with OpenSky in the future. It will just be dormant in the radio.

From the OpenSky M7300 Quick Guide...

Code:
Change operating mode via the App Mode menu.
or
Preset button C can be programmed to reboot the radio
into a particular application mode.
or
1# will transition the radio to ECP mode. If ECP mode is
not loaded in the radio, the radio displays “No App.”

ECP mode is 'EDACS/Conventional/P25'.... so that's definitely where you want to be if possible. Some of those radios only have OpenSky in them. If that's the case, they are essentially useless I'm afraid. I have a collection of P7200's collecting dust that are in the same boat.

That was it! Thanks so much. Now I’m getting a message about r15 or later firmware not in the radio.
