• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Does anyone have an idea what Feature 53 is all about?

Single Key DES started shipping with OMAP Radios sometime around 2013.
It allows you to insert a Single DES key into the PERSONALITY of the raidio so that it can utilize encryption over the air without having to purchase full blown Multiple-Key DES.

The Single Key DES feature is located under Options -> Digital Voice Options within RPM.

If your radio is featured for Single Key but does not, for whatever reason, have the DES module loaded you will need to load the correct Encryption Module.

DO NOT ASK ME FOR HELP PROGRAMMING YOUR RADIO. NO.
That feature does still require the encryption key to be loaded via the key manager software, though, right?

I still can't believe that after all this time, nobody has created stand-alone simple software for loading encryption keys into various radios. A (relatively) simple end run around the cost of keyloaders and complex key management programs that comply with umpteen gazillion federal and security standards and protocols.

I just want to be able to create and load keys into my radio and that's done in software. Someone who writes software that'll do it on the cheap will be a hero to many. And a villain to the big companies that profit excessively off this simple task.

Single key DES is entered via RPM, much like an ADP key in the Moto world.

A much simpler/streamlined KLV package would be very welcome, but I'm sure there would be tons of FIPS concerns etc etc that would never let it happen.

Greetings. Hope this is the appropriate thread to ask this question.

I have a P7300 I use to listen to a simulcast system which has a mix of Phase 1 and Phase 2 radios. I hear Phase 1 fine but no Phase 2. Reading this thread I learned that feature 47 (phase 2) is disabled in my P7300. I currently have RPM Radio Maintenance software and the main program RPM R10B07. Is there a way I may enable Phase 2 myself and if so is there a text to read and follow or is this something I should not attempt myself?
I appreciate your help.

No, there is no way to enable this feature yourself without paying for it.

It's not that expensive of an upgrade. I just purchased Phase II for a radio and it was $250. The expensive one is the P25 trunking, which you already have.

Where can I find people or businesses offering the P2 upgrade? eBay is my first guess...
I will take a look there. I am debating if to wait longer for the G5 phase 2 firmware upgrade or just get the P7300 done...

The other option is build an OP25 linux box - not sure OP25 is decoding phase 2 now-a-days.
Thank you for taking the time responding!

I've purchased Harris upgrades thru Command Communications in Texas and Salem Unlimited Enterprises in California (ranzugliaj@yahoo.com was the contact person).
