any one looking to establish a live audio feed on a mac platform should take a look at "nicecast". free trial and $40 to purchase license. it took some tinkering but i got the feed routed to radio reference. if you have trouble, contact me and i may be able to help you get it set up.

cheers,

I wrote a nice basic set up for Nicecast that is in the Live Audio Wiki, see here: Live Audio - The RadioReference Wiki

problem w/ nicecast connection to rr.com

we had a regional power outage this morning and i'm having a devil of a time trying to get my feed re connected to radioreference.com.

i'm broadcasting ok to the rogueamoeba (i think) site <http://192.168.1.101:8000/listen.m3u>. i'm listening to it now on my other computer and its working fine.

so it seems the problem is just w/ setting up the server connection with rr.com.

1) Hostname: Enter what ever is supplied by RR (what should i enter in this box?)
2) Server type: Set to Icecast2 (done)
3) Account: i entered 1871
4) Encoder password: Enter what ever is supplied by RR (done)
5) Address: Enter what ever is supplied by RR (entered <audio3.radioreference.com>)
6) Port: 80 or possibly 8000 (i've tried both; last successful log in was w/ port 80)
7) Mount point: Enter what ever is supplied by RR (done)

any ideas on what i'm missing or entering wrong?

The first box is not HOSTNAME, it is simply a common name, you can enter anything you want it will not affect the connection as that is simply used to name the different servers in the list.

Port needs to be 80 not 8000

Yes, account box should be blank.

BTW, my address box is sources.scanamerica.us. Not sure if that is just cause I have the old settings still, if this needs to be updated someone should let everybody know.

Mine is still working though so I guess it is OK.

Nicecast should have save you settings.
If not, it was because Nicecast needs to be shut down after a set up & then restarted to save the set up info.

1) Name should be the name of your stream
3) Account for me is blank

+1

After about 5 times of resetting everything up I finally got around to messing with it and figuring that out.
