• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi All,
I have been searching all over for the CPS software for this panther 605M. I tried Tait software for the T2020 and no go and the Orca/5000. No luck with either of these being able to read and program this radio. I tested the cable with the T2020 software and it reads the model name and number but says not compatible. I did read someone was successful with the Orca/5000 software. I am having issues with the com port as the cable is a serial to rj45 cable that is supposed to work with this radio with the Orca /5000 software. Suspect it is probably a setting for the com port itself. Maybe these radios need a slow computer? If anyone has any helpful suggestions please let me know. I am familiar with Motorola and other radios just this one is being a royal pain. I almost wish I hadn't offered to help out someone get it programmed for GMRS and UHF ham. The owner has both licenses.

You use Programmer to program MaCom panther radios, there is no substitute.
The Panther 7100 can be programmed with RPM
A rebranded Tait is not a MaCom product.

Hi Merlin. When you mention programmer I take it that is software specific to the MaCom? Do you have a link that I can look at it and/or possibly purchase? TQ3403 is supposed to be the software for these radios but it is unobtainium it seems.

Thanks. I tried 2 Tait software programs and of course they didn't work to read or program. Took a chance. The software installed with no issues and I was able to verify the programming cable I bought works at least. I just don't want to throw any more money at this if it is not going to work with the radio. The seller says he can't confirm if it will program the 605 but it does list other panther models. The operator I am trying to help will have to tell me if he wants to pay for it. I wish I could talk him into just going with a Kenwood TK-880 as it will do everything he wants and newer but he is set on getting this one to program GMRS. I am not even sure if the 605 will do DCS tones. If it won't then the point is mute!!!
