Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a Vertex VX-P829 radio, program cable and CE76 software. When I try to download from radio it say's shut off radio and back on which I do and the radio will say PC prog. Software will now say downloading please wait and then I get a error says model mismatched and does nothing. I have the product selected has Handheld (VX-820). Anyone have a idea how I can get this radio to work with the software?

You might have the custom government issued radio. I think you need the ce-106talon software to program it

Hi Danny37,
I have several VX829 UHF portables - can you please tell me if there anyway of telling whether the radio is using a version of CE76 or CE106, or CE106 Talon programming software.
I have tried using various versions of CE76 and the response is 'Radio Mismatch'
Would really appreciate your help
Thanks & Regards

You most likely need the ce106/talon if ce76 is not working for you

The analog radios are sometimes listed on ebay. The P25 versions are hard to find since they were mostly government issued radios. Once in awhile they show up on ebay
