I know that Mahwah PD is currently on their UHF frequencies that have been in use for many years, but are there any plans for them to switch over to one of the numerous TRS that cover their area?

Thank you for the info. Working on something since we border them. Just wanted to know if they planned on switching. I have heard a few Bergen County agencies on the Rockland TRS, but I was not taking down which agencies I heard on it.

Any Bergen County agencies you're hearing on RCPSCS are for mutual aid purposes, not primary ops. Mahwah PD and FD both have 700 MHz capability and have had subscribers on the system for years. They are not alone, there are numerous other agencies in surrounding counties that have access to the system.

Right, I understand that those agencies in NJ are on the RCPSCS are on for mutual aid purposes and not primary. I am in the process of trying to find out what agencies actually monitor the system regularly, in case I need to call one of them for an immediate work related purposes.

Hope they stay right where they are. Could never hear the PD on analog.

When they moved to P25...big difference. Get them all over the place now. For reference, using a 996p2 in the car with an NMO UHF antenna.

Seems that a phone call or two from your communications sergeant to her counterparts in those agencies would yield that info.
Yeah, her boss is the main "guy" for that, but he is a very busy guy since the addition of the additional "bar" on the collar, so I am helping out with gathering some of the info.

We do not currently have them in our console at my agency, but since we border them, I am looking at trying to see if we can get them put in.

I would imagine it’s something that could be done. As long as you have a reason to be, have your brass call their brass, or whatever the appropriate ranks are. Take it from there.

Yeah, I am gathering some information on my own and then the brass came actually make phone calls to set things up, if that is the way we are going to go. When I worked at Suffern PD, we had Mahwah PD in our console and a few times, we needed to talk directly to their units.

Mahwah PD has no intention of switching to an existing TRS. They have numerous satellite receivers deployed on their UHF P25 repeater system and are concerned that any existing TRS would not match the in-building portable coverage they've grown accustomed to.
