I want to manually program some frequencies into the 996. These frequencies are not in Butel or Freescan. Please instruct me to program both conventional and trunking frequencies into the 996. I have read the manual numerous times and I cannot understand.

In freescan, go to file menu (top left) import, you'll see Radioreference Conventional, Radioreference Trunked, you can import the freq's and trunked systems right into freescan then edit, add, delete, whatever, upload it to the scanner, it is better than putting them in by hand. Save the file and you'll have it for future use.

Try this: http://myweb.cableone.net/marksscanners/996/996.html

Specifically: http://myweb.cableone.net/marksscanners/996/996.html#program system

This site will walk you thru step by step just about anything you want to do. An excellent resource (now if I only had a 996 to go with it...)

Shameless plug for the wiki page where this was found:http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/BCD996T
