Joint Base Ft Lewis and Mchord. I no longer am getting anything out of the McChord Trunked System. I am close by and have not been able to find them. Have they switched over to the Ft. Lewis System?

If you are trying to listen to the 400 MHz McChord system, it has left the airwaves. The base has moved to the 380 MHz P-25 DoD system that Ft. Lewis has been using.

Local monitors reported the system was taken off the air a week or two ago. Unfortunately, local listeners also report that many of what appear to be new McChord talk groups on the 380 MHz P-25 system are using encryption.

Thanks! I will do some more searching. So far I have not heard any of the McChord talkgroups on the main Ft Lewis system. I have heard a few encrypted groups. They have an air show in July so I will do more searching then.

You have to listen to site #9 on the JBLM system; it was stood up to cover McChord Field. Most of the USAF traffic is on that tower, running about 99% encrypted, everything from Security Forces and Fire to Maintenance is secure now.

Conversely, almost all of the Army stuff is still in the clear.
