Awhile back there were frequencies posted here (I think it was here) for the Mercer County trunking system and since I live in mercer county, I dumped them into my scanner, but havn't heard any activity...until a few days ago. a fellow radioreference member helped me figure out that it is a 9600 baud P25 system. The control channel has consistantly been on 508.4875 and instead of a sysID popping up on the display (like i'm used to), three codes pop up - "SY1EA", "T0101" and "BEE00" and the prefix before the codes is "96:". I have been scanning the system daily and have not heard any activity on it as of yet. I have a PRO 96 and have WIN96 software and the bank is open. Do I need to do anything else to listen to the system or is there just no activity yet? PS. The license is WQCW645. and the other frequencies are:
500.450
500.750
500.975
506.300
507.150
508.4875 (CC)
508.900

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

Rob

You'll need the base/offsets for the system, to plug into the Custom Table or Extended Tables section of Win96. This info isn't available yet (I'm switching a scanner/computer setup to it and hope to have it soon).

In the meantime, you can program the other channels into your Pro-96 and leave the mode as FM. It won't trunk, but if there is any activity then you'll receive it conventionally.

SysID is 1EA, SiteID/TowerID is 101 (only one site on the system).
Pro96Com on the system plus a little math yields the following:
Base=500.4500, Offset=0000, Step=12.5, ChLo=0000, ChHi=4095
Base=506.3000, Offset=4096, Step=12.5, ChLo=4096, ChHi=8191
Base=508.4875, Offset=8192, Step=12.5, ChLo=8192, ChHi=12287

500.4500 = CC alt
500.7500 = CC
500.9750 = CC alt
506.3000 = CC alt

Except that the current CC is, as you noted, 508.4875, so it may still be in the early stages of configuration and the CCs may change(?). For now, you should probably put all 7 channels in as MO to be sure to catch everything (you can put them in again as FM if you want to double-check).

After a couple hours I haven't logged any affiliations, let alone any transmissions. I submitted the above to the database so it should appear shortly.

Sounds like they may possibly be in the early phases of migrating all public safety users onto this system; that's the only thing I can think of.

Rob,

If you need any help on how to set those base/offsets in Win96, you know how to get a hold of me...

Thank god my 396 doesn't need any of that for a P25 :D

As soon as I find my 207 Scott, I'll be looking for help. Pasco County Fl is ENTIRELY on an EDACS system. Only a few volunteer FDs not on it.

Can you say "disaster" when the big one comes ashore?

Some testing of the system today. Above configs seem to be working, CC is still 508.4875. TGIDs I've seen: 00002, 00034, 00035. Unknown if any encrypted activity.

Does anyone know what the maximum number of CCs and Alt CCs there can be on P25 TRSs? I know 4 for 3600-baud systems, but Pro96Com was reporting a total of 5 CCs/CC Alts on this system. I'm curious whether that's reliable enough to submit as accurate data, or if it bears more monitoring and investigation to winnow it down to four or fewer.

A little info for those interested . Radios will be installed at each municipalities emergency management EOC or PD dispatch center for OEM talkgroups . Oem and sheriff's dept. will be the first users. And sorry to say I am being told full encryption. The radios for the Oem use have been purchased and awaiting install by the radio company contracted by the county.

Wonderful. Yet another county that has to go all secret in New Jersey. How ridiculous...
