I am just posting to confirm that 453.175 is the frequency that Mercy Flight of WNY is using for there communications I was also wondering if anyone knew what it was like when they dispatch a team to a call do they use the radio? Does anyone have a recording of one of there calls i could have? Or any information about how there radio communication operates?

I believe the origination of a call comes from a police or fire dispatch point. These calls are placed most likely by landline after a request by fire or police units in the field for availibility of Mercy Flight depending on weather or other factors. Once the aircraft is ready for takeoff or has lifted off then you hear the status like takeoff info and location or update requests via radio. Comms continue via radio until they set back down.

Mercy Flight Central uses Arch Wireless digital pagers. Not sure about Mercy Flight of WNY, but if they are starting to merge communications on UHF then maybe their dispatch procedures will become similar, too.
