Chris I'll try to get more on the actual set up for you. Train crews have one setup and other operating departments have set ups for their specific needs. So what may be three in one department may not be the same in another. Some departments even use apha tags to denote the channel."

Hey Spec, thanks for taking a look into that for me.

Give me a day or two and I should have it. Since I last updated my info some of the loads have changed slightly due to the change in gear.

I took a train down to the rotten apple yesterday, and noticed the crew members where carring HT1250's and I think the display said "CH1 Hudson To GTC", and I had noticed at grand central terminal in the station master's office there where a few staff personall with 1250's, I have looked on the database and could not find anything for Metro North, and was wondering if any one would be kind enough to share the frequencies?

Spec, does everyone have HT-1250's now? Are the GE M-PA handhelds gone?

There still is some GE stuff left out there. A vast majority of the train crews have switched over. The PD is still running GE for the most part.

It would probably be accurate to say that passengers gain access to GCT via Grand Central Station.

I guess I just can't let this go.

The definition of a terminal in respect to a Railroad is given as follows:

Terminal (Railroads). A major assemblage of station, yard, maintenance, and repair facilities, as at a terminus, at which trains originate or terminate, or at which they are distributed or combined.

So if this is the "official" definition for a terminal as it relates to a railroad, there MUST be a station at Grand Central Terminal :)

I know I should let it go but I just love stirring up a controversy.

BTW, officially there WAS a "Grand Central Station" at one time that was ultimately demolished and "Grand Central Terminal" was built to replace it. Just goes to show you people fight over the stupidest things but yes the Official name of the big building at 42nd and park is indeed "Grand Central Terminal" Now let the fight begin as to if it is also a station or if there is a station located at Grand Central Terminal. ;)

What ever makes you folks happy.

Station vs Terminal

It is named Grand Central Terminal because all trains either start or terminate there, making it a terminal. Unlike Penn Station which trains pas through, which makes it a station.

I can hear the dispatcher clear form my house (in poughkeepsie) and can hear the trains when they are at the station, Its fun to listen too, and can come in handy if you hear that your train is delayed.

It was fun, or at least interesting, to be listening in when I was aboard a train that had to sit at Beacon for almost an hour because the power kept failing. They sent a "rescue" train from Pok, but it was only the next scheduled train. Got rather crowded.
