Hey guys, hope everyone is doing great. I didn't find the answer to my question in other threads, so I'm making a new one here.
So I have a Kenwood nx5700 (it's a VHF), and I was trying to program MI DMR frequencies, however, I only found a couple of VHF ones and I'm not sure if they are linked to the statewide network. I don't have much experience with DMR. I do have my DMR ID from marc-dmr. I also have an XPR 7550 VHF that i was trying to program as well but no luck so far.
Is there anyone who can help or share some info with me on this?
1-I need to know if VHF and UHF are linked or if i can access statewide with VHF frequency.
2- any idea how to program DMR to the nx5700 or XPR 7500?

Thanks.

Well you need to know the freq, color code, talk group and time slot for each channel. I am more familiar with the XPR than I am with Kenwood. Somebody local will have to the answer the question about how your states DMR repeater systems are set up but I think they are linked if they are using a comman talkgroup and channel name I know there are a few in my area that are but im not familiar with michigan let us know how far you have gotten programming your system thus far so we can better help you with the aspects you are having trouble with.

Appreciate the info. well, that's one of my problems.

that's where all the info is, but i'm not sure which one is what. I know the time slot, but as far as frequencies and talk groups, i'm not sure what goes where. Also, is it possible to access another state's dmr network from MI?

Actually, the link you posted indicates that the listed VHF frequencies are all analog, not DMR. Under the DMR tab on that same page, the text mentions that their DMR repeater is UHF, not VHF. Michigan might well be different, but the majority of DMR repeaters around the country are UHF. For whatever reason, VHF DMR machines are not as common.

Your post suggests that you are not at all familiar with some basic DMR concepts. Understand that DMR is a totally different animal from analog and you really need to understand some of the basics before programming a codeplug or it won't make any sense to you and you'll just get frustrated.

Do yourself a favor and don't rush into things... seek out some of the fine videos on the web that explain how DMR works, as well as others that can guide you through the basics of setting up a codeplug. It will be much easier. Best of luck.

appreciate all the replies. yeah i watched a couple of videoes on youtube and am trying to learn more about it. I wasn't really sure if those are dmr neither, so, glad you confirmed it.
If anyone has a dmr codeplug for xpr 7550, i'll appreciate if you send it to me. maybe i can take a look at it and figure some stuff out.
