FYI---The following was posted on another list today.

Peraton was recently announced as the prime integrator for the FAA's

Maybe talking about digital FAA dept radios not related to aircraft radios...
Too many old planes etc to go digital and you want open coms on aircraft to hear each other.
Maybe someday down the road for aircraft but will take a long time :)

Indra Air Traffic Awarded $244M FAA Contract to Replace Legacy UHV, VHF Radios

  • August 28, 2024

The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded Indra’s air traffic business a potential $244.3 million contract to replace legacy ultra high frequency and very high frequency ground-based analog radios at remote air center/ground and backup emergency communications facilities.

FAA announced the award of the NEXTCOM V3 UHV/VHR Radio contract in a notice published Tuesday on SAM.gov. The contract covers all necessary equipment, documentation, software and contractor services to replace existing UHV and VHF radios, also known as the NEXTCOM V1 radio set.

Overland Park, Kansas-based Indra Air Traffic will provide contract and program management, warranty and repair, configuration management, barcode and asset tracking, integrated logistics services and support for government testing activities. The contractor will also help develop maintenance and operator training, support the government spares provisioning and maintenance program and provide other required services to implement, maintain and operate the UHF and VHF receiver and transmitter system.

FAA issued a solicitation for the contract in March 2023.

Seems they are just replacing aged out current tower radios etc with new ones. Nothing about going digital.
I use a Yaesu FTM-400 VHF-UHF Ham radio that can do some digital but stay mostly with analog local coms.

If you read the two links at the bottom FAA docs talk about Nexcom involving digital radios capable of both 25 and 8.3 spacing.
Almost all new radios have optional digital coms like my Ham radio.. Its not the end of the world for aviation analog!

Seems that earlier AR-80 Res I mentioned was just for tankers which included TEAM-46 who is now
offshore AR-777 with a McGuire C-17.

NOBLE-21 says we will probably get one more A/R before we head all the way down the East Coast.
Maybe headed back to Savannah? Few more weeks and will be new CAP fighter group to start the New Year.
NOBLE-22 is female pilot not heard before I think.. Maybe new in the squadron.

CanForce tanker CFC3317 A-310 type doing retrieving CF/18's from Florida again working out of Iowa.
Been at it for 2 days already and guess will be going back for more.
Kind of sad they don't have more tankers for this job.... I wonder if CFC pilots draw straws for return schedule.
Some may want to stay longer :)

Here come a couple of those RCH KC-46 tankers back to Kansas from Carib from this mornings Navy Growler delivery.
RCH-78 and RCH-077.You can see the odd blue line route they took this morning Southbound. Guess they wanted to route Southbound
on the Eastern side of Cuba from NAS Whidbey Island.

CAP over Scranton Pa area running late.Revised notam pushing times back to 2200 local and fighters on 288.400
talking about 10 PM local for end of CAP.
Spare/backup pax jet #09-0015 off Andrews Northbound.

Sort of OT a twin engine plane N95KC landed on I-95 in Florida on top of a Toyota and all are OK.Awsome video :)
My first question.. How does a twin engine plane lose power on both engines?
