OT @0205L Blu Origin's "New Glen" rocket launches successfully.
Rgr Rich I happened to catch that as I woke up about 7 minutes to launch.
The first stage booster didn't land on barge and seemed to disappear but 2nd stage did make orbit on first launch.
I think at 5pm est today that huge crazy Space X Starship will launch from Texas weather permitting etc.
They are gonna try and snag that booster again at launch pad.

I'm not too familiar with NOTAMs, does anyone know if something is happening at NYG? HMX-1 pick-ups for POTUS' upcoming Charleston visit are happening at ADW, instead of NYG. Is something preventing C-17s from landing?

Last night's news said some 7,800 Nat'l Guard troops are part of Inauguration Day security for DC.
OT: U.S. Army National Guard soldiers assigned to Joint Task Force District of Columbia (JTF-DC) loaded and unloaded their gear at the D.C. Armory on Jan. 15, 2025, in preparation for the 60th Presidential Inauguration. Approximately 8,000 National Guard service members from approximately 40 states and territories comprise JTF-DC to support the 60th Presidential Inauguration

OT Update on the USS John F Kennedy - CBS Philadelphia reports the ship will depart the navy yard in Philadelphia "around 9am," while ABC indicates 9:30, before traveling south down the Delaware River via tug boats.
Yeah the trip is about 6 hours for a normal ship - this will be a bit slower so will be dark by the time it arrives in the lower bay

should be visible on this feed if you look ar the proper time. Not sure how far the TV helicopters will following them...

Here are the escort tugs
