Yes, you are correct. This TG has been used for many months. This was discussed here some time ago. I looked for the thread but could not spot it.

It is thought that it is being used by those considering using TRS to test signal quality.

yeah they’re for speech quality measurements which can be used at various signal strengths to see how the quality varies. like he said 👆🏻
i’ve asked the same question about the 800 freq they from what responses i’ve gotten are used but not as primary if the 700s are all being used the they would start being utilized. not sure how factual that is, would need someone to run a log on the system to actually see how much they are used

They are from Harvard Sentences. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvard_sentences).

Rather than doing BER or BLER scoring, its best to use PESQ scoring on digital communications. These sentences are recorded back when monitoring the OTA calls. That recording is then compared to the raw or original and then a PESQ evaluation is used to come up with the MOS. Typically end users prefer to see a 3.0 or better score which means communications is clear and readable with little to no loss in syllables.

They will usually have a device hooked up on the P25 radio that transmits the sentences and a receiver at a known good location that will record it. That way they can tell where they have good or bad uplink signals.

For more about PESQ, here is easy to understand website What is PESQ
