Since Big Spring, Texas is now in the dark with the dreaded TE, I am going to get a motel in Stanton, Texas so that I can possibly hear Midland, Texas P25 this Thanksgiving. I know I cannot hear any Midland County talk groups on GATRRS.

I will be monitoring with my Remtronix 842B (I am pretty sure that is the model) on top of my SDS 100 and/or 436HP, about 20 miles. I might end up using my Larsen Tri-band if this does not work.

I try not to patronize "any" municipality or county that employs ridiculous encryption. Ft. Worth and Wilco are at the top of my ca ca list.

Are there any listeners who have monitored Midland, Texas P25 from that distance. This is a "general" question.

I would appreciate any feedback. Scanning in Big Spring was BORING when they were in the clear, LOL. However, the land is rather flat toward Midland-Odessa.

You can hear Midland just fine from Stanton. It always helps to ask for a higher floor if you plan on scanning from the room though.

You will have no problem monitoring from Stanton. I'm not sure what GAATRS site to use there, but you might start with Gardendale.
