It sure looks like he's on simplex to me, on occasion they'll talk about being too far apart to be able to talk on the radio. He does have a license for a single frequency.
I don't know how tall his grain elevators are, but I bet a repeater antenna up there would get him coverage all the way up to his shooting range in Alexandra. I'm sure he has enough stuff to spend money on without expanding his radio footprint though....

I figured it probably had been, I think its cool that he has his own system that's smart. I'm assuming its NXDN and not p25 watching his videos right?

The license shows 4K00F1E which is 'very narrow' NXDN voice. The one photo I could find appeared to show an NX-700 mounted in a tractor.
P25 would be a colossal waste of money for a single frequency simplex system.
