They switched to a system based on VOIP which rely on cell towers. For a while, the security and supervisors were still on their respective OASIS TG's but that's gone too. I miss them hearing MCTS but the new system must suit them better and could obviously justify the cost rather staying on OASIS.

Not very often, but a once in a while you will still hear a MCTS bus using OASIS. Apparently there are still dead spots with the new system.

I still keep those MCTS TG's on there just in case but don't necessarily hold my breath that there will be any permanent patches either. Waukesha Metro has a few TG's too but they don't talk nearly that much as MCTS on there since they don't have as nearly many crazy passengers out there.

I did hear a brief transmission on TG 51 yesterday when a driver called in but then it turned into the digital garbled sound.

Unless they are trying to make that a permanent patch but don't get too hopeful. MCTS does/did seem to have an unusual large number of TG's at their disposal.

This does seem to be the case. I always wondered why they had so many talk groups that they never used. It was odd. The same thing with MFD and the high number of talk groups they also have. Perhaps this is in preparation for their move to the new system that’s going to go online in the not too distant future. It’s going to be interesting to see how this works out for them.
