If nothing else, my view of a state wide 700mhz trunking system has spurred some of the forum members to comment.
I probably should have put my glasses on and slowed my hunt'n & peck'n down and typed 7/800... either way, I still believe there will be many counties holding off with logging on to a new 7/800 WISCOM system, unless there is large grant monies available to offset the enormous costs, and not to just the law enforcement agencies, but for the many rural fire departments, EMS and first responders....
Yes, I fully understand some counties here in the northwest have migrated to the WISCOM, Dunn CO is one of the systems I monitor. I have heard some counties like Rusk using RCALL61 and others using RCALL51 as well as a few other WISCOM talk groups, that said many of the counties around here still use "Point to Point" too.
A 7/800 trunking system only makes sense, especially for the WI counties bordering with MN like St Croix County, for the interoperability with law enforcement in both states, and few of the bordering fire departments have mutual aid agreements with each other on both sides of the St Croix river...
I attached a simple graphic of the many county systems I monitor either from my home or while on the road... not included is the Minnesota ARMER system I also monitor while on the road. I do occasionally get down the southeastern portion of the state, and have "dialed in" to a 700mhz system in Milwaukee (just say'n)
