1st. Why Does Fire Dispatch A Call Without Broadcasting What Type Of Call It Is, Just An Address?
2nd. I Can't Figure Out What Pd Units Belong To What District. Can Someone Explain District Unit Designators So I Can Know What District I Am Listening To? Thanks!

Not being anywhere close to Milwaukee, I can only address the first question because it was explained to me by a local some time ago and is a common practice in large metro areas to keep radio traffic to a minimum. The dispatch is put out as an address only because the station being dispatched is given all data in a paper text message which is handed to the Batallion Chief or the driver of the recue unit just before they respond. The address-alone broadcast warns any other units already out mobile in that district that a response is under way and to be cautious of traffic in intersections so collisions between equipment is avoided. This is what I was told, but I have not verified that info independently.

I'm sure that local Milwaukee members here have a full list of numerics for the various divisions and units - I'd be interested in that as well just in case the question comes up again.

I really hate it when Fire Dispatch doesn't even do a "Car 300" and you hear a unit saying they have a working fire or rollover and you have to wait until command gives a update and hopefully gives the complete correct address.

I HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO CHANNEL 1 AND DO NOT HEAR DISTRICT ONE UNITS. HOWEVER, I DO HEAR "SQUAD 90s" UNITS. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT CHANNEL DISTRICT ONE IS ON AND WHAT THE 90s CARS ARE?

D1 may be using the OpenSky system..others can confirm better than me, but I know some (most, all?) of the D1 cars have OpenSky data and/or voice capabilities.

D1 is a very small area and I don't think there is too many squads, sometimes at night D1 squads are sent to other districts to help out becuase there is nothing really going on after all the shops close. I just talked to a dispatcher a few weeks ago who said there is no OpenSky voice in use and nobody has even been trained yet, there is also a lot of problems with data.

Good to know, and at the same time I'm not surprised.
