If the PC you're considering has Windows OS embedded, you won't be able to upgrade it to Windows 11 or any other versions of Windows. Same issue should you decide to run Linux.

Which generation i5? I could probably estimate by what you paid but…

Been playing around with idea of upgrading my old 396T to SDS100 and/or getting an SDR setup. I’ve looked at optiplex micros just not sure how new is new enough.

I believe 6th gen. It's an Optiplex 5050. I know it's not a high powered gaming rig but for basic tasks it works just fine
