My local PD just switched to P25 conventional in VHF. I've heard all units, portables, and dispatch back and forth with no issues. I wasn't really paying attention, but something caught my attention. I would randomly hear dispatch give a "10-4" without hearing an officer. I parked my scanner on the PD channel and literally watched it. I saw and heard traffic like normal. Then, I see the LED light up green(the color I set for my local PD), with no voice. Dispatch confirms the traffic and gives the officer whatever information he requested. I would then hear the officer acknowledge dispatch like normal. For some reason, my scanner would miss some of the P25 voice traffic, but it shows that it's receiving something. I haven't been able determine the cause and I know for a fact that the PD is not using encryption.

I've adjusted the P25 wait time to 0ms and threshold level to 3.

If someone has any ideas of what could be happening, please let me know. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I suspect the scanner is taking a couple of milliseconds to begin the decode process, which means the first part of a transmission is lost. (I too see this on both P25 conventional and trunked systems).

You may continue trying different P25 Threshold Levels as well as using a P25 Threshold Mode of Manual, just to see if this helps.

It would also help during your testing to make sure that the Priority Function, the Close-Call Function and WX Priority are all turned off. Sometimes, these can be contributing factors.
