More than likely you were hearing the 300w transmitter in Branson on 42.100. They also have a 100w transmitter called Pineville, actually located closer to Plainview, on 42.100

I noticed that troop d is 42.100 now,I was recently in Northern NM over Christmas and heard them one night while i was scanning the bands!!!!!!!
wow that was a rare band opening!!!!
It sounded crystal clear!!!! from that far of a distance i'm thinking at least 900 or more miles!!!!

What you heard was low band skip and happens frequently at those frequencies. We could hear the CHP patrols on low band here in the Midwest during the summer when most of the skip happens. It is a pretty neat phenomena though.

Depends on what Troop location you are next to. There is Troop A through F. Google Missouri State Patrol Frequencies. They are there.

What is 42.08 used for?

Today I noticed that in 2007 they added 42.08 to the mobile license http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?cs=KA5824
Also I found this http://www.mshp.dps.missouri.gov/MSHPWeb/PatrolDivisions/COMM/documents/historyOfCommD.pdf
On the last page it says:
"Also, the Patrol added a new lowband frequency designated for use between aircraft and the fleet on the ground."
Could this be 42.08?

on 42.1000 and 42.140 but we never hear the car replies...Are they not simplex?? or repeaters
different frequency input? Appreciate any help......Walt

Check out the database for the mobile relay frequencies. Once in a while you can pick them up via those. Depending on where you live, you may or may not pick them up. If there is a trooper within 10 miles or so of your location, you can catch them, otherwise your stuck to listening just the dispatch.

Where are you located near Troop C? You can not hear much traffic even on the antenna that I built that picks up VHF from over 40 miles away. The best option is to add the 148.600 Mobile Extender and you may hear a bit more than normal.

Below are three sets of Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) frequencies. The first set is strictly for Troop C, the second deals with the Division of Drug and Crime Control (DDCC) which handles things like raiding meth labs, operating stings, etc. The third list consists of their current statewide frequencies. Some you'll hear (point-to-point for example) and some you may never hear. But they're good to have in a scanner because there could be instances when one may pop up and then it can get exciting!

You're absolutely correct. the MSHP no longer has that frequency and the RR database still does. I've removed it from my listings and will send a note to RR to remove it from theirs.

I do on a normal basis, pretty sure anyway. If I'm driving around I'll hear them with my external antenna, it cuts in and out. I'm about 35 miles away from their transmitter, but yes I hear them almost daily. I don't hear them on the other extender frequency, that I can't remember is right now.

Hmmm that's strange. But if you're hearing them, they're obviously using the frequency. I don't know why it didn't show up when I searched the FCC for it. Then again, I very easily could have done something wrong...I had/have too many things going on!

From what I have heard or saw on a previous forum, I believe it may be licensed to the National Guard and they are allowing it to be used for State Patrol or something like that, not exactly sure. Haven't tried a PL/DPL search on it, knowing that the other troops may use it with their own unique PL/DPL. Troop H is mostly 173.8 PL and Troop A would be 203.5 so who knows what they do. . .

The 148.600 frequency is assigned to the mobile extenders. I've searched several times and have never found a license that belonged to anyone in Missouri for that frequency.

I've always seen the PL as 186.2 when receiving 148.600. I can't say for certain though that this would be the same for every channel that the mobile extender is retransmitting.
