Anyone have any info on what ′alkgroups are being used for the mn state fair on the mn armer sistem?
I heard heavy traffic on statewide tac 8, but not sure which agency this is?
The state fair pd tgs have not been active however.

I set up a Calls playlist based on all the past posts and activity I could find and have yet to see anything meaningful on anything other than STAC 8 and STAC 9. 8 is fair dispatch and has the law activity. 9 appears to be thier fire/medical TG. STAC 7 has traffic for thier strike teams and QRF (Quick Reaction Force) patrols. Not a lot, thankfully so far, but assume if things get wild, it would light up.

SF Police 1 and 2 traffic is very spotty and so infrequent I'm going to say it's all user error transmissions with radios on the wrong TG and not intentional.

SF Police 3 (TG:12580) has some occasional traffic with actual exchange on information so it's in use, and doesn't appear to be duplicated/patched to STAC.

No fair related traffic on any of the Ramsey County Pool TGs or Metro Tac that were both reported to have been used in the past.

This is really helpful. Thanks.
I'm finding prety much the same here too.
Do you know what agency is using stac 8? Msp, sheriff, sppd, etc? And how it is patched? It seems that when the fair closes it has regular patrol traffic, e.g I heard a unit trying to catch up to a car, and calls being dispatched. Then as soon as it opens again the next day, it's fair related only.

I don't think it's a specific agency. The STAC TGs are supposed to be programmed into most radios on the ARMER system so any users that need to communicate can switch to a bank and access that TG. That's where I think I am hearing officers keying up on the SF TGs instead of where they are supposed to be working on this week.

As I was typing this there was a radio check on SF 3. For one voice, the most recent and frequent TX has been on STAC and SF talkgroups, and several Ramsey County LE talkgroups. The response came from a radio ID that has only been seen on STAC 8/9 in the last 90 days (Probably the console). If I had to guess most of the radios in use are from the Ramsey County or MSP/Statewide radio caches, and spend most of their time packed away in Pelican cases.

It's highly likely given how traffic intensive the fair is as a city within the cities, they aren't patching anything at all unless it becomes a true SHTF situation. Day to day, users are expected to operate directly on their assigned STAC.

To your last question, since the fair is primarily covered by MSP and RCSD it's likely an officer cleared from the fair and returning to normal patrol simply didn't change the car/portable radio back to the home bank. If it was a traffic issue that started in/around the fair, it's possible the call was intended to be handled by thier dispatch console on the fairgrounds anyways.

Ah ok. Yes I think that's probably right about the radiosw You can kind of tell with the audio on some of them.
Regarding agency, not sure if this is any use but the dispatcher did say that all troopers can clear from there gate posts. I have also heard dnr mentioned so maybe a mix of a few? A bit like a jtf possibly for the fair. Because am I right in saying the traffic on state fair police 3 is the state fair police department, or is this security or some none sworne agency?
Also, after I typed my question, not sure why I didn't look before, I looked back through openmhz recorded calls for traffic on stac 8. Turns out when the fair grounds close for the night and dispatch goes out of service, they patch with county central dispatch. This is where I heard the officers conducting regular ops. And then the patch must be dropped when the fair opens the next day.

I don't recall the exact number, but outside fair season the MSFPD is a small department, swelling to 200+ officers drawn from all over the state. This is further supplemented by State Patrol, DNR, Fed, non-sworn private security, and surrounding city and county departments as needed. Essentially the entire thing operates as an intra-agency task force with officers from local, state and federal agencies coming together to run what amounts Minnesota's' 3rd largest city for 12 days.

I took a quick look at the MN POST licensing database and there are 196 officers currently licensed to work under the State Fair department. I did also see there is a mandatory 4 credit training specifically for State Fair Radio Training.

thanks for that info. I really appreciate you taking a look at that.
I scan special *vents accross the US where I can get access to online streams, and it's nice to have a city that joins everything LE on one channel, ems on another, so that you haven't got fifty different agencies on fifty different channels you're trying to track. Think that's a prety cool set up.
