What is a good mobile scanner antenna? My truck is aluminum so a magnet mount won’t work.
I've been playing around with a few different models connected to a multiband mobile.
The Larsen NMO-150/450/758 is currently on my personal truck and it works well. It's a fairly thin/flexible antenna with a spring at the base, which is an improvement over their older model.
I'm also using the EM Wave EM-M43002 on my work truck. It's a thicker antenna, a bit less flexible than the Larsen, but has a really nice design for the base.
Both trucks are Ford F-350's with NMO mounts on the roof. Work truck is a 2017, personal is a 2018. I've swapped the antennas around, and am happy with both. I've used them transmitting on VHF, UHF and 800MHz. I'd not hesitate using either one for scanner use.
