I am setting up a simplex repeater for GMRS using a Kenwood 805D at 25w..

I ordered in the RadioTone simplex model.. (The 30 second digital record and then TX type/model..)

I think I may down the line (soon) upgrade to the Radio Tone duplex version with-in a month or so.. which would use a Motorola P110 for RX and the Kenwood 805D for TX for a straight thru operation.. I would limit a timeout on the Kenwood and mount an extra fan as well to be safe..

If I buy a cheap Chinese mobile duplexer (notch filter) for $100 now..

I would order it for 462.XX and 467.XX

If I want to install it now for testing the simplex repeater on 462.xx .. I would use that (462.xx) marked side on the duplexer to both TX and RX thru to my 1 antenna.. correct??

Then I would add the other radio later to the 467.xx side.. correct??

Basically asking can if I use the mobile duplexer now on one low SIDE??

Do not bother putting the Duplexer in line until you have the second radio.

On another note, you will probably be dissapointed with the repeater using those radios and that cheap Chinese controller.

You could do that, but why?

Also, you would need to terminate the unused 467.xx port on the duplexer with a 50 ohm load.

Then I would add the other radio later to the 467.xx side.. correct??

Again, you could do that. What are your expectations that your proposed setup will actually work well?

Yes, for added insertion loss and absolutely no benefit. Why would you bother to do that?

Why simplex? I do not belive that it is legal for simplex repeaters in GMRS.

50 watts is the max for 'regular' channel..

The GMRS-only channels are defined in pairs, with one frequency in the 462 MHz range for simplex and repeater outputs, and another frequency 5 MHz higher for repeater inputs. GMRS use requires an FCC license in the US, and licensees are permitted to transmit at up to 50 watts on GMRS frequencies

going to be in in 462.XX range for mine.. :)
