No, you can't. It's illegal and despite some on here who say that it's easy to break encrypted comms, they are never able to prove it.

Oh yeah, wanted to add :D

Maybe you just have bad luck? I've had two 2055s, a 97, two 2053s and a 93. Like I said, never had it happen.
It's a specific bug. If you do not have a MO type trunked system programmed, it won't affect you. If you do, then I'm sure I can tell you how to make the bug appear.

I wonder how many people just let their scanners sit and run .. versus how many are constantly "interactive" with them. In recent months I've let one scanner monitor the local TRS while I use a 2nd for everything else. As a result I haven't been turning on & off banks on the scanner which is monitoring the TRS (and haven't experienced the bug in that time). But the bug hasn't died.

Happy Holidays.

Someone smart enough to break the encryption is not dumb enough to "prove it". There are still times when silence is golden.

Feel free to post, I have a ton of TRSs to listen to (including my work's one) and I have done a ton of TRS listening lately with the NC buildout of their system. I've been listening to various /\/\ systems (with the 93 series) for the last several years (probably four). I use the 97 weekly for trunked use as well.

The people who keep claiming it should put up or shut up. The odds are, if it's on this forum, then it's going to be BS. Lots of talk and lots of bad info and ideas.

Currently, there is no encryption decoding device or software available to the general public. Also, as per FCC regulations, it is illegal to monitor encrypted transmissions. Unfortunately, systems that have gone to encryption leave the law abiding scanner enthusiast "out of the action".

Actually it would be more accurate to say it's illegal to decrypt encrypted comms. If it's absolutely 100% illegal to monitor even the encrypted broadcasts, then every time one of our scanners stops on an encrypted data stream we're all committing a Federal offense.

Just nitpicking here, but it's all good. Monitoring an encrypted transmission isn't a crime; decrypting it would be - if it were possible (and I'm sure it is, just takes the right software and hardware and a few favors from NSA personnel...).

JUST KIDDING... geez ;)

Maybe you missed this...

If you've ready any of this thread, you would see that it is illegal to decrypt encrypted comms, not that you'd be able to.
