Thanx for your reply ATCTech.Like I say,my setup hasn't changed in years.Radio is the Uniden 780XLT,Dell laptop running W10.The volume level on ACARSD has always been set to 11.In fact, nothing has changed other than the fact that nothing is being decoded.I'll try the 'Mic boost' that you suggested, and then I'm going to try a different scanner.I used to score hundreds of hits in any listening session in the past but this has got me beaten.I'll get back to you.Cheers!

Ok, but Windows 10 has a unique way of dictating updates that you may think hasn't changed anything, but..... <GRIN> In fact, I very much doubt it's the radio. I'm guessing the Record Level in Windows isn't what it was. It's very easy to move one level slightly up and one slightly down, the volume sounds the same but the decoded data is being corrupted in the process.

Another suggestion. Does ACARSD have an "input select" menu that perhaps isn't set to MIC in, and/or is the default record device in Windows set to MIC?

AND fixed! I took your advice and checked the Sound Settings and found that there were 2 microphone settings in use,one of which was mute.Guess which one was in use?I disabled the mute mic, enabled the other one and now decoded messages are coming in thick and fast.I've decoded 35 since I started typing this.Result!
Thanx for your input ATCTech.Problem well and truly solved.

Excellent Sir! I was just poking around Windows 10 here and noted that the Mic Boost function is now a slider right under the Mic Level slider when you're in that device's Properties window.

You probably know this, but R/C-ARINC and SITACom are competitors in the data link business, hence both being active pretty much everywhere.

Evidently ASRI doesn't know this. From their website:

Aviation Spectrum Resources, Inc. (ASRI) manages and coordinates radio communication licensing for the aviation industry in the United States and all U.S. territories.

Speaking of AcarsD:

Has anyone created a Groundstations database file for the US? I'd like to try to get this to work, but I need guidance, as I don't want to mess things up.

I mostly use ACARSD but years back tried KG-ACARS and lost interest due to lack of being able to read menu etc due to language.Looked at it again yesterday and decided to see If I could make it with English menus which I have done...no more ???????? all over the place. However haven't been able to access any icons. With this package does one have to manually populate the pics folder with jpegs before it sees them?
Has anyone else worked on this software to make it easier to navigate in English?
