For those who desire to monitor something different from every day listening near Kingman, since yesterday (2-12), the Southern Nevada Off Road Enthusiasts have been using radio including a base station on 151.625 with some interesting radio traffic. The race is being conducted North of Kingman, off of Stockton Hill Road. Depending upon your location you might need an outside antenna to hear the radio activity.

I keep one system or group of frequencies almost always scanning in one of my scanners and it consists of the old "color dot" frequencies, other low power channels, FRS, and GMRS. Hooking that radio up to an outside antenna I often hear some interesting radio activity. It's on whenever I am at home, even late at night next to the bed. Close call is also active in a different radio but with just a rubber duck antenna late at night should there be radio activity nearby.
