I am looking to hold a hamfest in Monmouth County, NJ. I am wondering how many people on here (who are from around this area) would attend. Thanks

Ham fest

There used to be one in the area every October. The last few were held at Brookdale College. But its been a while since they had them. One of the local ham clubs sponsored it.

I'd certainly come to this Ham Fest and I'd bring at least 3 or 4 Ham Buddies and I'd also let my "OBARC" Old Barney Amateur Radio Club in Manahawkin, NJ know about this if this becomes materialized! I'd also like to see more Ham Fests in the Ocean County, NJ area too in the future!

Does JSARS not hold theirs anymore?

Also, was the Brookdale one run by OMARC or something like that? I miss them as well...

Scott, You're not missing anything by not attending OMARC. Nice guys but way smaller than the one you guys run. BARA is often a nice effort as well.

BTW, who is gonna spearhead this effort? It takes a goodly number of experienced ops to bring one off properly and you need TIME to weave the pieces together. Who's got the administrative knowledge and experience we need to get this going? Realistically, it can't be a newbie.

I would gladly come from Toms River. I have traveled across the state many time for a hamfest, but many turn out to have a small attendance.

Sadly hamfests are no where near the size they used to be years ago. This is mostly due to greedbay and internet sales in general. Good luck organizng one - it would be great to have a decent sized fest around here again.
