Has Whitemarsh PD gone encrypted, because I was trying to monitor them today, and I couldn't hear them, then I did an ID hold on their talkgroup and it was all scrambled, are they in the testing phase or have they gone completely encrypted.

Thanks

i am using a pro-96, and i know not too long ago, i was able to listen to them, but now i cant, and when i do an id hold on the talkgroup it is all scrambled, just like how encryption would work.

(1) Did you have the channel on hold for an extended period of time and (2) if you did have it on hold for an extended period of time, was it encrypted the entire time? The few times I've listed to the digital side of MontCo, I was able to pick up Whitemarsh in the clear. They are capable of encrypting when neccesary.

I have the BC250D with the APCO-25 card. I lived in Lafayette Hill and monitor Whitemarsh PD from time to time. In the past they went encrypted at times, but then they would go back to open communications. I noticed over the last several days all their communications on the county system have come across as encrypted. I am not sure if it is permanent, but it has been pretty consistant. I know Pottstown went encrypted awhile back. I locked out thier ID because it is annoying when the encrypted communication came through. I guess I'll wait a week or so before I do the same for Whitemarsh.

Today, while I had my scanner in open mode, trying to hear whitemarsh PD, I came across a new talkgroup 26064, I am not sure what this is, I think it might be a radio tech talkgroup, because all I hear is them giving a radio countdown. If anybody has any other information, this would be greatly appreciated.

When i was living in Whitmarsh last summer I noticed that Dispatch was always in the clear and only some units would have their secure switch (located at the top of the XTS5000 portable) activated.

I believe this is Motorola techs doing system testing. They had been using both an analog and a digital talkgroup back when the east and west zones first came online.

Montco EDS techs have their own digital talkgroup that runs encrypted most of the time. Every now and then, someone will come up on the old analog EDS talkgroup, but not very often.

Whitemarsh is "in the clear" tonight. I haven't heard the encryption, but I don't monitor Whitemarsh PD all the time...only if I have to heard over that way for something.
