The following is a message from another message board:

Open Sky system up and running in Blair County. Penn D.O.T. Blair County District has been using the Open Sky radio system for over a year now. The Pennsylvania State Police Troop G in Hollidaysburg recently began also using the Open Sky Radio System. PSP is still using some of the old VHF frequencies for some radio traffic, however it appears that alot of the dispatching is now being done on the Open Sky system. Radio traffic on the old VHF frequencies has been greatly reduced and will eventually be done away with all together. Talking with a local police officer who offers the following. The locals are disppointed that they can no longer hear PSP. It was nice to know what they were up to because PSP's work could "spill over" into the local juristictions

Once again,

It is not a big deal, as the Local County 911 / EMA office already has at least 1 Base and 1 Mobile and several Portables. Also, PSP has a talk group patched into the VHF-HI PD National.

So if PSP needs something from the local LEA, there is always access for them to inform the locals as needed.

Any LEA in PA can purchase a Portable / Mobile for the SW OpenSky System.
