Just got word that the MIRS (Morris Integrated Radio System) has placed the radio's at all the PSAP's in Morris County. These radio's are only programmed with two Channels:

MIRS-1
MC-DESK

I happen to know that Municipal PD TG's have beeen assigned (MGLE-1, MGLE-2, MGLE-3) in the system for use. I saw a Sheriffs radio and their set-up (channel order) yet don't have the associated TG's with the channel assignments. I currently don't have access to a digital scanner. Anyone with help...if anyone ever hears go to channel 8, I can help out if you get the TG ID.

Does anyone know if the Park Police, Sheriff, & Pros Officer have different channel set-ups? I know the Sheriff radio's are :
CG-COM
CGLE COMM2
SHERIFF-1
SHERIFF-MOBILE
SHERIFF-SMPL
COURT
JAIL

but I would tend to think that they dont share their Simplex and Mobile channels with other county agencies. ANY INPUT???

Are there plans to put every township's PD dispatch on the trunked county system?

No, Some towns may come onto the trunked system for dispatch in the future. The new MIRS radios allow township police, fire, and ems vehicles to have interoperability. Also the MIRS radios at the desks is like a SPEN system countywide, like the old county alert systems from the 70's.

I think the following talkgroups are correct as far as I can tell:

CG-COM 48(Analog) County Common

CGLE COMM2 32784 (Digital) Sheriff and Park Police Dispatch

SHERIFF-1 32816 (Digital)

SHERIFF-MOBILE 32848 (Digital). The Park Police use Talkgroup 33072 (Digital) as a F4 Car-to-car channel as is listed in an earlier post so my guess would be that both the Sheriff and Prosecutors would also have their own talkgroups for this since I've only ever heard the Park Police on this talkgroup 33072.

SHERIFF-SMPL Unknown. My guess is that this would be used by the Sheriff's SERT Team and also encrypted and is a conventional frequency.

COURT Unknown. Most likely a conventional frequency.

JAIL Currently the Morris County Jail uses 478.475 w/ a PL of 71.9Hz in Conventional mode for Jail Operations however this frequency is also listed as part of the TRS so it's unknown if they plan on leaving it conventional or switching it to the TRS.

I'm pretty sure the Prosecutor's office is on talkgroup 32944 but since it is digital and encrypted, I have no way of knowing for sure.

I have also monitored Digital activity, allbeit very limited, on the following takgroups but have no idea of which agency they are:

32816
32848
32880
144 (Analog) May be County Parks Maint. but not confirmed.

I'll put the scanner into ID Search mode and see if I can find the MIRS-1 and MC-DESK talkgroups.

Direct, not repeated?

7254,

My guess for "Sheriff-Smpl" is that it's a simplex, non-trunked frequency possibly used for short range, tactical communications.

The only dispatching you will hear will be the towns that the Comm Center currently dispatches for now. When will they have radios I don't know.

They are relatively small towns so i'm sure money is tight.

The setup now will be for disasters and terrorism related comm's, plus I almost forgot the Morris County Regional Emergency Deployment System, which if any of you can hear it, was used at the FDU incident, I believe last year.

The main focus is interopability for surrounding towns and comm's between the county and municipalities.

Also as SCANdal said, the simplex channels are conventional point to point. I do not have any info on the frequencies.

The court and jail frequencies are conventional.

All it is really is a system where if there is a major event (riot, disaster, etc.) Each town sends an officer(s) to wherever an incident is.

When the FDU thing happened Mt. Olive and other towns in the county sent officers to Madison. I guess it's whatever each town can spare.

Thanks K2NNJ,
Is there a particular radio plan that is used for this regional system?

Not sure what you mean by radio plan?

I'm going by what's been posted thus far. I don't own a digital scanner, so I couldn't tell you.

Morris County Trunked Radio System (MIRS)

Last night I heard on TGID 33072 Park Police F-4 Car to Car a 91 Unit call
into the Comm Ctr. and the Dispacher called it Comm 4, and it was in P25
Digital mode not analog.

I submitted the changes to the database a couple of days ago as per this thread and listed both as Digital not analog. I just submitted the correction to chang them to from Analog to Digital.

Sorry for the confusion.

I meant what radio system they use... which was answered.

I would also like to know if there is such a thing as a "MIRS" group or team. Or is it simply a talkgroup used for interopperatbility by officers who are out of their normal territory?

Thanks again.

The MIRS "group" are going to be PD, Fire, and EMS units in each town within the county. The concept is to have each township dispatch and emergency vehicle have a radio on the county system for interoperability with each other and the county
