What are some of the most popular radios in use by public safety in use today?

What do you mean byt the "most popular"? If you're asking what radios are used by more public safety agencies than any other then Motorola wins by a country mile. You'll also find Kenwood, MACOMM/Erricsson, General Electric, and even some really old radios like Rolm and RCA still in use by some agencies.

All of the VFDs in my surrounding area use Kenwoods, but my PD uses Motorola.

For on the fly keypad programming Kenwoods, For APCO-P-25.... Motorola, and EFJ... a few Kenwoods, For rugged tough dependability Motorola, and EFJ.... And if you ask about Lo Band- ALL of them!

For M/A-Com TRS's.. thier is only M/A-Com.....


For small palmsized HT's.. Motorola has some but in my personal opinion I prefer the more traditional full sized HT's.

One piece, easy remove for changing vehicles, or for anti theft- Motorola, Kenwood, and I believe M/A-Com has a model too.
