Be gentle, I am old! The last 2 or 3 days on 151.4450, Cal Fire Santa Clara Local and 151.1750, Tuolumne Calaveras Local I get a loud motor boat or ignition sound only on those 2 frequencies.

What am I missing here?

Thanks

I'll be nice...

Do you get it with the antenna unplugged? Any electrical interference (is the AC on- or do have a fan plugged in) what changed two or three days ago? Did you move the scanner? If it's a handheld... are the batteries fresh?

One thing in common with those two signals at your location is they have less signal strength relatively speaking compared to local stuff. Perhaps there is a motor nearby causing the interference (auto, power tools, air conditioner, etc).

Lemme guess, it sounds like a diesel truck idling most of the time followed by load motor boat noises? That would to me describe a motorola trunking system, though you don't really hear that down in the 155 range. Perhaps your 155 is a repeater of your counties 800 mhz trunking system, and someone with the county has a radio misprogrammed somewhere so that it's replaying the control channel on 155. Let's plant these seeds and see if anyone else can figure it out. Can you record it for us by chance? Maybe with audacity (free program)? My curiosity is piqued.

I'm going to guess some sort of local interference. I'm in the San Jose area & monitor CDF SCU regularly and haven't heard the noise. I was monitoring 7/23-7/26 and never heard it. On a side note, I've noticed the Xbox 360 wireless controllers make 482.x125 freqs go all kinds of crazy when hitting the left trigger and a scanner is nearby...

I'd say it was electrical interference. On the older stuff 151MHz is prone to it. If you mention ignition noise does that mean you're mobile when hearing it?

I guess you can't use PL tones?
