• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Picked up two, what look like new non impres oem motorola waris batterys.
I have three desktop chargers. One xts impres charger, one WARIS impres charger and one rapid non impres charger. I know the waris battery's fit only waris charger...here's where it gets confusing.

Both battery's took there turn on the waris charger (4 hours each), after that i put one battery in the radio and turn it on but, as soon as I key the xts2500 the empty battery gauge pops up on my display and watt meter slams to zero and radio gives off an deep error tone until I unkey. Display does not dim, lights do not dim...I can crank the volume to 10 and no signs of a dead battery in RX mode...anyway to fix this?

I got these waris battery's because they are super thin, light weight and were reasonably priced.

Are you sure they are real OEM factory batteries? Why are you using Waris batteries in a 2500? Years ago I had a Visar, that had a factory thin battery that even when fully charged was only 600ma, & didn't have enough power to transmit on high power because it was so thin.

But, ARE they really new? There should be a date code on the battery somewhere, usually on the tag. Should be a 4 digit number. Better yet, if you can post a picture of the label, that might help out.

Could be these were New, Old Stock (NOS) which means they sat on a shelf for a while. If it was long enough, they could be no good.
One thing you can usually do is take a close look at the battery contacts. If they do not have any scratches on them, then they are likely new and never used. If you see any scratches on them, then they were used, or at least charged at one point.

Is it just one battery that is doing it, or is it all of them?

The upper one's from 2003 and the bottom's from 2007. They probably don't have much life left, from the sound of it.

Lesson learned? Do not be cheap. Just go and buy new batteries.

Got them for 99¢ lol it still is irritating when the seller said there is "plenty of life left". But hey at least I can RX fine. I'm curious if I bought brand new ones they would work fine right?

Yup, they should work fine and if you have a problem, you can swap them out under warranty.

Those used batteries the OP got will probably be far superior than a new battery from W&W. I've had good luck with Jedi batteries from Power products.

Is there certain company's to stay away from?
I get my non Motorola OEM battery's new from imax in eBay. But since I got a impres charger and a impres battery I think I will just stick with impres OEM battery's, and if I need a ridiculously small or large non impres battery who's the best to buy from other than imax limited choice?

Yeah, W&W. They sell junk, trash, & garbage.

OK, thanks. I'm not sure who or what W&W is but, Google could inform me.
I will just stick with OEM battery's.
BTW seller is sending me replacements...I shall see if they truly show up. There only a 35mi from my qth.

If you've got IMPRES chargers, you might as well buy Proper Motorola batteries.

Try Sandy's or Wiscomm.

Why on earth are you wasting your hard earned money, energy and most importantly time on used batteries? Just buy new ones and save yourself the grief

I'll second Wiscomm. I buy parts from them occasionally. In fact, I just got a shipment from them this morning. I've never had an issue, and their on line ordering makes it pretty easy.

And I've been extremely happy with Jeff @ Sandy's Communications. He sends the radios I order the same day, & his prices are the best.
