• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Centracom-II update
After a brief illness with the whatever has been going around I have made progress on the Centracom CEB & Console. The CEB had numerous bad capacitors on the DC supply rails and two leaked out in the supply itself, several of the 5V regulators were flaky as well so they all got replaced. After this I proceeded to punch in my base stations and set the levels, basically it was a start everything over as I had mis-confingered. Four of the BIM's are running DC and the other four are tone control so it was a matter of configuring my MSF stations to match this and set the levels. All is well and functioning normally. The CEB also got a Rotron Whisper fan stuffed in the upper right corner of the cabinet, the frame of the fan is thick enough that it will remain in place on its own with only two zip-ties looped thru the top. This is also true of the MSF base stations and all is required is to remove the top cabinet cap and position it forward of the transformer core. I wire them up with lamp cords to be plugged into the AC service outlet.

Several here have emailed and asked if I'd be interested in parting with the Centracom, not at this time. I was a long time service technician for an MSS that decided to add Kenwood and other off-brands to the mix, this with the various departments moving to the state ARMER system I found myself doing more garbage trucks, taxicabs and school buses so I moved on. I'm batwings all the way and until now my Centracom experience was limited to card shuffles and scrubbing contacts so now this is my opportunity to learn & share knowlege. The idea of scanning the book has been given a lot of thought recently and can happen in the near future. What I'm not familiar with is the software and how to go about this efficiently, many of the pages in my book are in medicore condition and would need special attention. I'm open to ideas on how to accomplish this task as a whole as I will then archive the entire manual on the Repeater-Builder site and here if the admins are willing to accomidate this. I will do everything I can to preserve the page sizes and details so the finished product is going to need considerable digital real estate. What I need are experienced software recommendations that will run under Linux (Ubuntu) where I can take a chapter of the book and lay it out in a flatbed scanner and it does the rest. I'm willing to do the work and all I'm asking is for those in the know to contribute what they can as I see there are a number of members wanting to play with LED's & Buttons.

I think they call it "Green disease."

I'm glad you found this thread. If you didn't pipe up in here, I was gonna send you a message in the other place.

Your supervisor is a dead give-a-way.

That fat-cat has a way of getting around, the green disease was a pleasant diversion to the aches & running nose snot fest I've been dealing with.

their may be a more efficient program, but i use whatever my printers come with ie, for me right now its an hp app. however, i do recommend a flat top scanner, and to position it near your computer when scanning
