Has anyone else noticed that there has been a Truck load of Motorola radios being sold/traded recently?

Just makes me wonder why.........................

Are they being sold off for Better equipment or just being sold/traded to get rid of them?

Maybe it's just me, but when about 80-90% of the For Sale forum it LOADED with Motorola equipment, i had to ask this question.

What is it with the MASSIVE Motorola sales?

Just wondering..................................................

Didn't you know it was get rid of your motorolas month? j/k

Accually I've noticed that too and also have sold a few myself wich I received in a recent trade and had no use for.

Used to be more scanners than anything else being sold on here and more motos sold on batlabs since I've joined.

Memebers list has grown alot since then also.

Well, it was brought up and mentioned in a forum (not sure which one), that the For sale section should be broke down in to more sections, and the Motorola section should be added, you have to browse 100 motorola listing to find a scanner in the for sale section any more.

IT'S ALL MOTOROLA equipment,.

I always thought radio reference was a main stay for scanner communications, and was not aware it was a Motorola yard sale.............................

We need separation in the For Sale Section......HINT...HINT Forum directors/Admin........................
Make a Motorola section so the rest of us SCANNER people don't have to read a 100 motorola listing s when we need a scanner.

A lot of the equipment that is coming available is due to agencies switching from analog to P25. For all of us who don't have to be on P25, we are grateful for it!

I think part of the problem is that many users are creating individual posts for each item they're selling. Instead of creating one post for all of the items, they create one post for each item instead of just summarizing the thread title. So if you've got one guy posting five times about Motorola gear, it looks like a lot is being sold.

There's no rule against doing this, but I thought it was common etiquette here that we write one post and summarize the thread title. If you're selling ten things of Motorola gear, say "Motorola HT's and mobiles" or whatever in the title and then list everything inside the post. If someone is looking for an XTS3000 specifically then they will either see a Motorola thread in the forum while browsing or they'll search the forum for it using keywords. IMHO, there's no reason to clutter up the forum for a gazillion things that could be condensed into one thread.

Surplus of Motorola radios from agencies upgrading their equipment. Theres also truckloads of Motorola equipment on ebay. As said above, more places are upgrading to P25, 800/900MHz....

Out with the old - In with the new

I've been phasing out my Motorola equipment in favor of Icom, Vertex, etc. that I don't have to pay $40 for every time I need to have something reprogrammed. I can buy the software and cables for them at a reasonable price and be done with it. Others may be doing the same. As a matter of fact, I've got 2 Motorola P100 HTs that are going out the door just as soon as the batteries in them are completely shot, which won't be too much longer. While Motorola makes a lot of good quality equipment, they tend to price themselves out of a private individual's budget.

Let me see what I can do. It's not ultimately up to me.

Regarding summarizing sales... I'm against this as being mandatory as it slows down the ability to read the forum. It takes a lot more time to check and read each thread when they can skim subjects. It also gives sellers easier management of a sale.

Wirelessly posted (MOT-QA30/00.72 UP.Browser/7.2.7.5.610 (GUI) MMP/2.0)

I agree with wayne. And i think the best way would be to summarize into

1-Scanners
a. Brand
b. Type[digital, analog, etc.]
[or vice versa]
c. accesories
d. and etc. [what ever other genres of stuff relating to number 1]
2-Transmitters[radios]
im not familiar enough with radios to attempt categorizing them, other than brand]

Well in my experience if you aren't one of the people who visit the for sale forum every hour, it is tedious to trudge waist-deep through multiple listings for similar items that we're not interested in from the same seller every night. That is what I am saying. Not all of us are constantly hitting the F5 button. Perhaps I will no longer extend the courtesy of summarizing my items in the future if that is the standard.

On to answer the original question, as already stated, there is a mass move from analog and/or antiquated systems to digital systems whether it be P25, IDAS, or Nexedge (remember, public safety are not the only users of trunking and digital systems) and there is major rebanding going on where in some cases, users are getting new equipment, especially for the radios that can not be rebanded. That's my guess.

Last time I looked at the banner at the top it said " RADIOreference" Not ScannerReference..
