Mototrbo CPS 2.0 Hexedit for 900MHz?

So you can hexedit CPS 16.828 to expand coverage for 900MHz, has anyone done it in CPS 2.0? I’ve tried the 16 method but didn’t appear to work.

Not that I’ve heard of. I just picked up a mint 7580, & I had the owner verify CPS 2.0 never wrote to it.

you tried the 16 method on the radio or tried to do what we do in 16 on 2.0? What firmware is on the radio?

It’s not a what version of firmware, it’s which CPS is being used. You can hexedit CPS 16.828 mototrbo.exe to open the freq to 941MHz, but when I try to do the same in CPS 2.0exe it doesn’t expand the saved new freq range, not sure if there is a difference sequencing of the steps and saving, that’s what I’m asking. Same with the wide and entitlement, CPS 16 you hexedit to activate that feature.

I asked about the firmware because I was curious to know if you needed to use CPS 2.0 or were just wanting to use it. I'm honestly pretty familiar with programming 900 into the XPRs and about 10 or so SL7590s.

No the same hex edit from 16 will not work on 2.0 however, while its elusive a procedure similar to the wide band .dll hack may work on certain specific versions of 2.0.

Radio I was given already had been programmed with 2.0 so there’s go going back to 16.

Odd, I had one that the fellow said was done with 2.0 and when I read it with 16, it read it fine, I did the hex edit and programmed the ham stuff we use on 900 but it had 2.09 firmware on it. I guess that was the reason I asked about firmware. I'll assume you actually tried to read it with 16 and it didn't work.

SO, on to 2.0... Yes and I don't have it in front of me, there's one specific version of 2.0 (or so I'm told) that you can swap a .dll file out and it will read and write to the XPR series (and SL's if not the e series) . I can only tell you it has worked for several of us here in my area. We don't do up to 941 but, do the ham stuff. when I get my programming laptop back, I'll see if it works up to 941 and report back. (may be a few days I loaned it out to a fellow ham to do some stuff in his area). To my knowledge however no one has got it to work yet on a 7550e, for some reason those won't take but we have done it on 4- 5580e, and they took the ham stuff just fine. I have no experience on getting them up on 941 but like I said I'll try that when I get it back.
