• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Its not P25, so its useless to sell under government grants like P25 gear for thousands upon thousands

Funny how its marketed as a productivty tool with a scanner for warehouses, Moto sold off their enterprise unit to zebra earlier in the decade...Guess their back in the game with this all in one tool

You do know that the APX Next is the same concept for P25 !

An yes they sold off much to Zebra years ago and Phones to Lenovo. But yet we have APX Next, Evolve, ION, Lex 11 and who knows what in there futures pipeline. The also shutdown iDen but today have the TLK line on Cellular for PTT.

" scanner for warehouses " Need a scanner capable of QR and Bar code for a lot more these days than just Warehouses.

Uh yea of course I know about APX Next and the APX Next XE, Whats your point... The APX Next came before the Ion, but the Ion isnt getting the multi million dollar public safety grants for private business use which is why peoples asked how much is it and another came back with 1600, seems about right. You'd never see Next at 1600, too low for gubbermint contracts. peanuts.

Interesting that the cellular radio doesn't support B12, B13 or B14. This dramatically reduces the device's utility on cellular networks.

Not having B12 or B13 seems like a real mistake since these are the best bands for long distance coverage from Verizon and AT&T today.
Not having B14 just says they insist on doing nothing with MotoTRBO that even comes close to being useful for the PS/P25 crowd.

The manual clearly lists 12, 13, and 14 as being supported.
