Hi guys.
Back in the day, Mount Rainier had a police department and a freq of their own, (I think it was in the 495 band) but I don't see a listing in the database for them anymore.

Are they dispatched by PG county now?

Maybe because no one knew where to look? An old - and I do mean OLD - listing shows Mt Rainier on 495.1625 pl 127.3 I'm a little too far away from PG to hear much on indoor antennas; can anyone confirm this old info? If correct, we can add it to the db

That IS the freq I had for them back in the late 80s-early 90s. If no one confirms it by then, I'll be in the area at the end of the month and will advise. Thanks much!

they rarely use that channel any more. They are dispatched on Bladensburg PD on 453.900 I think the PL is 127.3 or 141.3.

Mt Ranier

I have heard that Seat Pleasant dropped their own freq and is on the county freq using Zebra ids. Could the same be true for Mt. Ranier?

Seat Pleasant PD had their own freq? I don't recall that. I believe they've always been dispatched by PGPD on what used to be the Seat Pleasant district freq.

Bladensburg? DC TRS? I guess I'll find out where Mt. Rainier is when I get there. I don't know why they wouldn't be on the county radio when county dispatches (or used to) all those miniscule towns like Colmar Manor, Brentwood, Cottage City and Edmonston. Do these tiny towns still have PDs on PGCoPD Ch 1?

The little towns are still on the PG system on various freqs - not just on channel 1. The list of all the towns and their "zebra" callsigns are listed in the RR database at the bottom of the PG page. The talkgroup they have on the D.C. TRS may be in addition to something on the PG system. I do hear them on the D.C. system regularly but am not sure how to identify them if they are also on PG.

I work in PG District I, where Mt. Rainier is located, they are dispatched off of Bladensburg's frequency, their call signs are the A100 series as they are located in the old Adam sector of District I. The only towns in PG that have their own dispatch are Bladensburg/Mt Rainier, Greenbelt, Hyattsville, Riverdale, and University of MD. All the rest are dispatched via PG County Public Safety Communications. The call signs for the town cars on county radios are Z100 series for Dist I, Z200 series for Dist II, Z300 for Dist III and so on through Dist VI. Any Z 700, 800 and 900 are Maryland National Capitol Park and Planning Police and Fire Investigators. Hope this helps.

To clarify why Mt. Rainier is the A100 series, Bladensburg Dispatch calls Bladensburg units B--- series due to they were in old Baker sector, and Mt. Rainier A100 series, so everyone knew which side of District I they were on. When those units come up on PG Channel one, they are Z80 series.

Mt. Ranier is on the Washington D.C. TRS police 460 mHz system. Their talkgroup is 19792.

I'm pretty sure all those TG's designated for other agencies on the DC TRS [19728 thru 20624] are patches - and seldom, if ever, used for that purpose. I have heard specialized MPD units like auto-theft, prostitution, etc., use these as surveillance/tac channels on occasion.
