Hi everyone, been on here for a while with my BCD436HP. I haven't used the software in forever as none of my favorites changed but now I moved and can't get a signal. I lived in Hudson county and used the West Orange Simulcast to hear things like RWJBH EMS, now I'm in Chester in Morris county and don't get anything. Am I all out of luck here or is there any solutions? I'm relearning all this as it's been so long. Thanks in advance.

I might suggest manual editing may be the easiest option to try. This approach should just take a couple of minutes with no computer required.

If you have not updated the radio in several years you likely do not have the Morris and Washington Sites. Check to see. If yes disable other sites and enable one of these. If not try the following.

Step through manage favorites, select System NJICS and select West Orange ( or any other site) , rename it to Morris. Select Site and edit frequencies. Edit so that only these (4) frequencies are in the list. Be sure this is the only site and system enabled.

This is a start, your location and building is a huge variable whether it works or not.

Lastly the x36 is a marginal performer for many (like me) on the NJICS. The x36 is very dated and has been superseded by much better performing radios on PII.

If Morris does not work you may want to try Washington which also covers

Chester.

Give this favorites list file a try. Save the attached zipped file to your computer and extract. Go to the File tab in Sentinel and click on Import from hpe file (Favorites List). Click on New Favorites List and name it: Morris Co NJ Click on OK. In the Downloads folder, open the extracted file. It will appear as a favorites list in Sentinel.

Update: I stepped outside and get a bar or two on those two sites. Maybe a better antenna indoors? I have the stock one.
I was never overly happy with the stock antenna on the 436 for any 700/800 trunking systems. While you can try various indoor methods including perhaps a small beam, as @buddrousa said, an outside antenna would likely be way better. The caveat is, the 436 doesn't do well on simulcast always depending on your location so, you'll have to actually experiment and see what works best for you.
