. I didn't get the software as the free version seems it will work for everything I need. I will get the NXDN programming straight from Uniden... and save a few bucks there. Hopefully they don't send it USPS... I'll never get it. lol!
You had 'your county' and a couple of neighbors programmed by ScannerMaster. Since you do not (yet) have the NXDN upgrade, I would presume that no NXDN systems will be pre-programmed. That's especially so since none of the local agencies, in your county plus the 'neighbors' you had the dealer program, are in the database currently indicating NXDN is in use.

My 996P2 does NXDN perfectly, you must enter the "LCN" for the frequencies and the "RAN" # for the system so there is a bit of work involved,....
The unknown factor here is first, has St. Roberts 'move to NXDN' been confirmed by someone in the area. Nothing in the database indicates that, other than a possible NXDN related emission code on a license for the city. Their current licensing is for conventional use, not a trunked system. If they are using that mode conventionally, not as a trunked system, you can manually program the frequencies via the keypad, & set the scanner to use digital, and 'search' for the RAN.

If, on the other hand, they are using that mode as part of a trunked system (even though not currently licensed for that), your inbound 996P2 does not have an LCN finder function to determine those values. Maybe someone in your area can help with that, using one of the SDR dongles and downloaded software. (The need to determine LCNs was also mentioned in your related thread.)

As jt, and others including myself have noted, FreeSCAN does not correctly support DMR, and does not support NXDN programming at all. Unless you purchase appropriate software, you will have to program any NXDN channels manually. In regards to paid software, both ProScan and ARC-XT can program your scanner, including DMR or NXDN systems. (You'd still need to find the LCNs if used in a trunking system). ProScan, as well as ARC-XT can be installed for a 30 day free trial period. I prefer ProScan, and would note that, if you programmed your 996P2, including NXDN, but at a later date you elected to switch to one of Uniden's database scanners (x36HP or SDS series), ProScan can import your 996P2 programming file and utilize it to create a Favorites list to use in one of the database scanners.

By “free software” you mean FreeScan, take note that it does not support NXDN nor DMR. So when you need these types of systems you will have to pay for software.

I see that I already gave you this info, so pardon this repeat.

Sorry, I missed it. Many thanks!
