I busted out the XMas movies early and was just watching Home Alone 3 and was thinking how funny it would be if someone with a Pro2006 picked up and was listening to the 4 spy people using their covert radios haha

The Flim Flam Man (1967)

A rural con artist and an army deserter cheat the townsfolk and are aided by a rich gal who shields the fleeing duo from the wrath of the pursuing sheriff. Starring George C. Scott, Harry Morgan, Slim Pickens, Albert Salmi, Jack Albertson and Michael Sarrazin. George C. Scott (the rural con artist) had some type of crystal-controlled receiver (maybe a Sonar) hidden in his glove box that allowed him to stay one step ahead of the law....

Joe Pesci and his gang of criminals use scanners in their backroom command post to keep tabs on all of the law enforcement in Vegas, and brag that some of their equipment is more sophisticated than what the cops use.

And speaking of Joe Pesci, his character in the "Public Eye" (who was based on the real life photographer Weegee) used a police radio in his car to respond to crime scenes to take photos. This was in a time period before scanners, but same idea.

The 2016 movie "Midnight Special" shows the main characters monitoring a Uniden BCT15X in their car to elude the police.

didnt Carl Kolchak have a scanner in the mustang ragtop?
and maybe at the INS office?

Kolchak definitely had a scanner(s) and it was shown/used several times in the show.

X-Files wanted to use Kolchak in an episode but couldn't get the rights. so they changed the character to 'Arthur Dale', ostensibly a former FBI guy, played by Darren McGavin. he is shown in the episode 'Agua Mala' in a trailer in Florida with a scanner bank, listening in.

Scanners in movies/TV

Ha, Yeah, I saw Kolchak the other night on reruns on METV .. he was going to a call for Jack the Ripper leaping from rooftop to rooftop beating up all those who came after him. He had the Regency Scanner in his car* screen grab photo* Then of course the there was the famous scene in THIEF at the very beginning where they had one man monitoring a load of scanners while Jame Caan and his crew were breaking into the vaults* bottom photo

Joe Pesci AGAIN used a scanner in Lethal Weapon 3 when he pulled up at a crime scene and had a handheld scanner. It was the scene where Danny Glover and Mel Gibson shoot his
tires out
