Does anyone know a trick to move scanlist around other than going to each Scanlist in the right hand column and going through the left click and assign anew number. Is there any way to move a Scanlist as a whole similar to the way the Don Starr software does it??

In search of more clarity of syntax, let us make the above a little clearer:

The modern GRE/Whistler/RS family of scanners have "about" 200 native Scanlists. When the scanner is new, most (or all) of these Scanlists are empty. Think of them as 200+ empty filing cabinets that the user can change the labels on the front and can add, or remove, contents as necessary. However, even after years of use, even with different owners, these 200+ filing cabinets will be unchanged, except for their labels and contents.

Now back to the real radios. Some of these Scanlists have been named during production. Nearly all of these Scanlists have been numbered during production. Like the filing cabinets, these names and numbers can be changed by the user. Still, the actual Scanlists stay the same except for their names and contents.

Names and contents. Names are either left alone or are user changeable. Now, determining the contents is where this system really shines. We have Channels, and we have TGs. These are known as "Objects", and will be assigned to the Scanlist/s of the users choice. On the appropriate Screen (Channels or TGs) is where we enter the right column and assign the individual Channels or TGs (Objects) to one, or more Scanlists. The Scanlists do not change, we simply move the contents from one Scanlist to another. Even Channels and TGs that are not assigned to a Scanlist actually go to live in the "Unassigned Objects Scanlist".

Now, most often, it will be desired that several Channels or TGs will reside in the same Scanlist. Standard Windows practice of highlighting multiple objects a selecting a Scanlist with a SINGLE CLICK would seem to be the ultimate in efficiency.

Again repeating:

".... Does anyone know a trick to move scanlist around other than going to each Scanlist in the right hand column and going through the left click and assign anew number. Is there any way to move a Scanlist as a whole similar to the way the Don Starr software does it?? ..."

Now, with clarity of syntax, we know that Scanlists ARE NOT MOVABLE.They can be renamed and renumbered but only the CONTENTS can be moved from one Scanlist to another.

It is a 2 step process ..

You can rename the scanlist to whatever you like. Just go to the scanlist control on the General Settings Tab, and rename as needed. They are number 1 to 200 going downwards.

Then you have to change the talkgroups / conventional items from one scanlist to another ..

There is no getting around this to do what you want, otherwise things are going to be all messed up.

You do NOT need to do each line separately .. you can do the whole scanlist at once. Just select the top scanlist item .. and then press ctrl and highlight the items as needed. They will turn purple.

Or if they are adjacent to each other .. highlight the top one and press shift and click the bottom one. You will highlight them all.

Then in both cases, click the scanlist numbers and set as appropriately.

I only recognize a method of moving the CONTENTS of the Scanlists. The concept of moving the EMPTY Scanlists (like EMPTY file cabinets) from one part of the office (or room) to another is beyond my comprehension. What would be the goal? Or preferred result? How could you possibly know the Scanlists were in a "different room, location, state, etc.? There is nothing in the scanner or the software that would allow such a determination. How could you possibly know when you have achieved your goal?

Let me say it again. In my opinion, you CAN NOT MOVE SCANLISTS. You can ONLY move the CONTENTS of Scanlists, from one Scanlist to another.

And even if you could move Scanlists, it would be no different than spending a night in a business office moving IDENTICAL EMPTY flie cabinets, from one part of the office to another. You would know you spent all night moving file cabinets, but the result could not possibly be confirmed be a co-worker (that didn't watch your wasted efforts).

I did this today to finally better organize my new TRX-1 where I had everything scattered and couldn't remember what scanlist was where. This method worked smoothly and great. Required some intense uninterrupted focus for a few minutes but when done, gonna make scanning life much simpler/easier

As long as we are on scan lists, I accidentally turned my scan list #1 to flash..the entire screen, when it's active. I have done all I can figure out and no luck except turning the scan list off. Can anyone tell me how to manually stop a scan list from flashing when its active? Thanks. Greg

Yes, being able to highlight multiple items and use standard Windows functions (delete, etc) would be much better than having to click each line and redo the same function.

I guess I'm not sure what you mean because we can do that already I thought.

For the OP, I just go to the 'Scanlists' tab, do the Click-Shift thing to select everything in the current Scanlist then unselect the current assignment and click on the new Scanlist number you want that group of items to be on. It takes me under 20 seconds to change 3 large Scanlists that way.

You can do the same to change a bunch of objects attributes at once. Just Click-Shift or Click-Control the ones you want and change them all at once by clicking on the specific field you want to change as a group. Combine that with being able to sort each column just by clicking on the header and is not that bad to edit stuff "en-masse".

Is that what you guys are talking about?
