".... Does anyone know a trick to move scanlist around other than going to each Scanlist in the right hand column and going through the left click and assign anew number. Is there any way to move a Scanlist as a whole similar to the way the Don Starr software does it??
..."
In search of more clarity of syntax, let us make the above a little clearer:
The modern GRE/Whistler/RS family of scanners have "about" 200 native Scanlists. When the scanner is new, most (or all) of these Scanlists are empty. Think of them as 200+ empty filing cabinets that the user can change the labels on the front and can add, or remove, contents as necessary. However, even after years of use, even with different owners, these 200+ filing cabinets will be unchanged, except for their labels and contents.
Now back to the real radios. Some of these Scanlists have been named during production. Nearly all of these Scanlists have been numbered during production. Like the filing cabinets, these names and numbers can be changed by the user. Still, the actual Scanlists stay the same except for their names and contents.
Names and contents. Names are either left alone or are user changeable. Now, determining the contents is where this system really shines. We have Channels, and we have TGs. These are known as "Objects", and will be assigned to the Scanlist/s of the users choice. On the appropriate Screen (Channels or TGs) is where we enter the right column and assign the individual Channels or TGs (Objects) to one, or more Scanlists. The Scanlists do not change, we simply move the contents from one Scanlist to another. Even Channels and TGs that are not assigned to a Scanlist actually go to live in the "Unassigned Objects Scanlist".
Now, most often, it will be desired that several Channels or TGs will reside in the same Scanlist. Standard Windows practice of highlighting multiple objects a selecting a Scanlist with a SINGLE CLICK would seem to be the ultimate in efficiency.
Again repeating:
".... Does anyone know a trick to move scanlist around other than going to each Scanlist in the right hand column and going through the left click and assign anew number. Is there any way to move a Scanlist as a whole similar to the way the Don Starr software does it?? ..."
Now, with clarity of syntax, we know that Scanlists ARE NOT MOVABLE.They can be renamed and renumbered but only the CONTENTS can be moved from one Scanlist to another.
