Folks:

I'm retiring and moving to York County, SC Nov. 30th. I'll be living in the Filbert area, if any one knows where that is. Between York and Clover. Probably spend a lot of time around Rock Hill and Lancaster as my wife has family there. Now, I have a Pro 95 and a PRO 96. Who has the great list of the good frequencies there. I'd like to set up my scanner programs (WINSOFT 95/96) before I get there. Guess I'll have a lot of time to listen to the scanner after I get moved.

Thanks for any help.

Already had those freqs. Looking for the ones that aren't published. For example taxis/nonFCC registered freqs/Trains/what ever else is in the area. Not being from there it's kind of hard to make up a good list. Oh well, the end of next month I'll have plenty of time to search for "hidden/non published freqs". Just hoping someone had a list.

Railroad freqs are listed on the main SC state page.

Mark - an official "welcome" to South Carolina. We have e-mailed before ... I'm glad you'll now be closer to family in this area and Camp LeJeune.

Filbert should be a nice location, with low QRM. Locally, only Stacey's Florists (a medium-sized wholesaler to stores like Food Lion) and Kings Mountain State Park / National Battlefield come to mind for radio use.

You will be relatively close to Crowders Mountain and Spencer Mountain in Gaston County, which provide nice, elevated vantage points for monitoring. Spencer Mountain has NWS equipment on it; possibly your former employer has equipment there, also ?

In terms of hidden or unpublished frequencies, I'm not much help. Here's a link to an FCC database search for a 10-mile radius from the junction of Highways 161 and 321 ... possibly something in there you might want to target ...

With regards to monitoring the Palmetto 800 system, you're strongest sites from Filbert will likely be the Newport (York Co) and Thicketty (Cherokee Co) sites, followed by the Union (Union Co) and Chester (Chester Co) locations.

You might also be able to lock onto sites in Spartanburg, Greenville and Laurens Counties.

Jeff,

Thanks for the welcome. My son at Camp Lejuene will be going to IRAQ in Jan of 2005 for 14 months. I'll give you growl when I get to the "south land".
