Does anybody know anything about MPSCS's 8th radio district? All units federal, state, county, & city use 1-7 and 9-11, only two utility companies use 8 just for mobiles and portables. But what else does District 8 cover?

8-million radio ID’s, as you’re asking about, are reserved for Utilities and are restricted to 800 MHz frequencies only. The radio ID does not indicate the zone except for local, county, state agencies following the prefix. Example, Wayne County ID’s can be 282xxxx, 982xxxx, or 1082xxxx.

8xxXXXX has been replaced by 9xxXXXX where xx is the county code; this is true for any 700 MHz compliant subscriber radios in District 8, though some legacy ones may still exist. Legacy radios would be older ASTRO Saber, Spectra, XTS-3000, XTS-1500, XTL-1500, and XTS-2500 (AN) models as well as older Kenwood, Tait, EFJ, and Thales radios.
