I notice that Radio Reference has a Channel entitled "Dispatch 3," Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop C. Channel 1 is labeled "Metro," and Channel 2 is labeled "Rural" within Radio Reference, and I have speculated at the areas where those Channels are assigned with respect to geographic boundaries based on locations that are the subject of various transmissions, as I haven't been able to find out the official assignment given to those channels by MSHP.

Channel 3 is unlabeled in Radio Reference, other than being described in Radio Reference as a Dispatch channel. I have MSHP programmed as one of my Favorites Lists, and all listed Channels in Radio Reference are programmed into my SDS200 scanner. I've been noticing several instances of Channel 3, labeled as a "Channel 3-Dispatch" have been showing up more often on my scanner's readout when transmissions are received from Channel 3. But, I haven't had a chance to determine geographic locations referred to for "Channel 3-Dispatch," so I can geographically determine what area of Troop C's venue is covering, whether it's a geographic oriented channel, or a channel related to operations of a particular division associated with certain operational responsibilities, ie: detectives, traffic, etc...Anybody?

Dispatch 3 is used for special details, such as patrolling St. Louis City downtown at night or task force deployments.

Troop A metro are Platte, Clay and Jackson counties. The rest are rural.
I would assume Troop C has something similar.

Just from what is being said, I would label Dispatch 3 as "Special Operations" in my FL.

As mentioned, Disp 3 is mostly used for traffic enforcement and dispatch duties in the St. Louis metro area. It is not used on a regular basis. Kind of an as needed use. I belive it could also be used for system overload when things get busy.

In region H dispatch 2 is used for routine traffic when dispatch 1 is busy with an incident (standoff, pursuit, etc)

From what I can gather from Troop E - Disp 1 is north of US 60, Disp 2 is south of US 60, and Disp 3 is used for special details, i.e. enhanced patrols on I-55
