And with the Whistler TRX you get to hear Madison County Law Enforcement again.. What isn't encrypted anyway as the TRX does NXDN!

That's good to know but I was told there was no scanner on the market as of 6 months ago that could pick up the Madison County Sheriffs department on their new system. That was my number one interest since I could keep up with what was going on around where I live. I work in Ridgeland so I'm good there and around Madison so also good there. No MCSO was the real bummer.

They are not encrypted

That part I found out, but i was told no scanner could pick up that system period, even though it was not encrypted. I also heard that Pearl PD was encrypted however.

NOT encrypted!

They use NXDN which ONLY the Whistler TRX-1 and 2 can hear, or SDR and DSD+.

That's excellent to know. Maybe the $484 is becoming even more doable thanks to you guys! [emoji6]

PPD has an Encrypted TG, but as far as I know they do not run encryption on all TGs. And NXDN can be monitored.

That's interesting about AMR they used to be loud and clear but since there was a shooting every 5 minutes in Jackson I cut them off. Ha.

And certain TGs with JPD, MHP, MBN, Clinton PD..... oh and Hinds SO.
NTNP Rangers are fully encrypted except for a very short time at night while Lee County -911 dispatches them.

So more and more are going encrypted. I guess eventually they will all get us out of the loop. :(

Feds are going more encrypted yes. With most agencies in MS, its only the sensitive TGs they encrypt.. With the exceptions of DeSoto County (Fully Encrypted LEA, EMA, FD, EMS, and DPW!) And the 2 PDs in Jones County noted....

After looking over my logs, it seems I've discovered how to tell the difference between if I'm hearing a Phase 1 or Phase 2 system. This is going to be a big help as apparently MSWIN has some sites that are P1 and some that are P2. I understand the idea is for everyone to be on Phase 2, eventually maybe (If i'm on the right page).

TDMA shows up multiple times in logs and on screen on the MSWIN MDOT Warren site. Which is where I hear MHP Troop C ID's constantly, and recorded the Pike County chase incident. Caution that I myself and a new P25 listener and still learning. But I believe this means that MHP Troop C is monitorable from only a TDMA equipped scanner; at least from the MDOT Warren site. I will be there this weekend, looking for 800 changes that milf mentioned and getting more info. I also plan on going through Hinds/Rankin area in a few months and I'll log everything that I can.

In conclusion, I believe the reason you (OP) cannot hear MHP Troop C anymore is that they are now Phase 2 TDMA which the Pro-197 cannot decode. According to my logs, MSWIN MDOT Warren is TDMA from which I monitor MHP Troop C. I suspect the same for all sites broadcasting Troop C but unable to verify until I actually can monitor the different sites outside of Warren CO. I hope that is at least a little help, as I am a P25 noob and still learning. Sorry if some of you or OP are saying "duh", I was trying to monitor a P25 TDMA system here locally and I kept saying "but what does it all mean!!!???". I'll get it eventually, that's what makes this hobby entertaining. The unknown and learning is half the fun, to me anyway.
